I concur with this article. I had the same problem with my iPhone’s Exchange application draining power – iPhone 3GS battery was staying warm and couldn’t hold a charge for more than a few hours. I didn’t notice it until after the IOS4 upgrade. I re-baselined the phone (factory restore) and turned off push for Exchange email and set the fetch schedule for Exchange email to manual. Battery life it back to normal. Backup before the factory restore!
